Large Cantilevers and Wishbone Gates (Modified)

Description

Same picture as this one willm3luvtrains.deviantart.com… except I got rid of the center divide that wasn't supposed to be there, using Paint. I also extended the white stop line.

So recap, these are two large Safetran cantilevers each with seven pairs of 8" incandescent lights, four pairs facing forward, three pairs facing rearward, and with Safetran mechanical bells. And with these cantilevers are long wishbone gates with 7" incandescent lights and the poles underneath the gates to keep the gate arms from going down too low.

To be honest, if I was to upgrade this crossing and change the signals, I don't know what I'd do. Would I:
  • Leave the signals in place but change the lights to 12" lights?
  • Upgrade the 8" lights from incandescent to L.E.D.?
  • Change the bells to electronic bells or to newer mechanical bells?
  • Or take the signals down altogether and replace them with new ones?
As for the wishbone gates, would I:
  • Leave them in place but change the lights (like to 4" lights, incandescent or L.E.D.)
  • Remove the wishbone gates (probably the best thing to do) and replace them with the lighter aluminum-fiberglass gates?
  • Keep this a two-gate crossing or change this to a four-gate crossing (two of them on mast signals on raised medians?
  • I know they'd have to be re-striped to vertical stripes.
I could also make this crossing defunct, put the track out of service and abandon this line and eventually remove the signals and gates. No that's not me to do and there's enough of that going on already.

Or I could close this crossing and turn it into an overpass.

No, this is my crossing and it stays as is. I'll probably change the gates, even using aluminum or fiberglass gates, or try to fabricate new wooden wishbone gates, and upgrade to L.E.D., but leaving the 8" lights in place and make them L.E.D., but I this crossing is just fine the way it is. Or better idea:, add median signals and turn this two-gate crossing into a four-gate crossing.

If you were to upgrade this crossing, what signals would you use? How many signals would you use and what kinds of signals and what kinds of lights, bells, gates and gate lights would you use?

And if anyone wants, they can vector this crossing, making it identical to mine or using different signals. Maybe even animate this crossing.
